The political crisis that began in August 2021 led to a significant economic contraction in Afghanistan, the international community’s ongoing humanitarian support mitigated some negative impacts of the contraction. Still, it will not be sufficient to bring the economy back on a sustainable recovery path.
The majority of international aid has been dedicated on emergency and humanitarian projects, despite the fact that artists and artisans are suffering from psychological and economic pressures, many enterprises closed due to the lack of recourses. the art and craft community remain small and almost forgotten.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
Flourish is a title of an initiative where on every commission I complete, I dedicate 20% of profits to support Arts and Crafts in Afghanistan, I intend to support on quarterly basis depending on number of cases I receive and total funds (Flourish Funds) collected from my art commissions. Although it’s much easier to directly donate to a charity, but don’t you think it will be more effective if we get in touch with every case individually and make sure every single amount is given wisely to make an impact? And surely you will be part of flourish initiative.
HOW IT'S DONE?
STEP 1
Identification of beneficiaries who needs support via a call for applications.
STEP 2
You will review cases and vote to shortlist applicants to be supported.
STEP 3
Applicants are supported and I will report back to you.

I worked as Business consultant and mentor for over 12 years in Afghanistan and I have a broad understanding and knowledge of afghan arts and crafts community, challenges and potentials. I sponsor specific person/s and micro to small art or handicraft social enterprises who needs support, I want to make a sustainable impact rather than giving hands on temporary cases. I also give business advices, so affected entities are encouraged and guided to continue and reach their goals and objectives.
I believe in afghan artists and artisans and their work and know their efforts are genuine and deserves to improve and survive. whether if it’s small or big, but together we can make a difference!
